My Maine: Haiku through the Seasons
By
Bette Stevens
The pine tree state:
Maine pines and people
Survivors, resilient souls
Standing tall and proud
Is that true! Spending much of my youth during the summer Maine season at Lake St. George, I can relate to all of the Haiku poems that Ms. Stevens writes.
I’ve never been a fan of Haiku, but after reading this, I know I will read more. She shows us in these elegant Japanese poems the seasons, colors, wildlife and people-life that Maine has to offer.
Pragmatic figures
Independence their calling
Rugged yet limber
Anyone who loves country-life, city-life, people, wildlife and wilderness will love this book.
I give it five stars.

I’ve never seen Haiku tell such a complete story like this before. It was a fantastic read. Great review:)
